Daryl Collins is a native of Sacramento, deeply rooted in the diverse neighborhoods of Oak Park, Midtown Sacramento, Del Paso Heights, and North Highlands. Graduating from Highlands High School and furthering his education at American River College and Sacramento City College, Daryl went on to achieve degrees from Sacramento Theological Seminary College, the Cops and Clergy Academy, and the Sacramento Police Chaplaincy Academy. With a distinguished career spanning over fourteen years in law enforcement, Daryl brings a wealth of experience and commitment to his candidacy for Sacramento City Council District 2.
Having proudly called this community home for over four decades, Daryl, along with his family, have become an integral part of the fabric of Sacramento. Three of his children graduated from Grant High School, and he is affectionately known as "pops," "dad," "dede," and Mr. Collins to countless young men and women in the community and beyond.
Throughout his life, Daryl has demonstrated an unwavering concern for the welfare of others, extending a helping hand in financial, emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual support. Guided by the belief that everyone is called to a purpose in life, his lifelong mission has been to revive, rebuild, and renew. From an early age, Daryl has undertaken the responsibility of caring for, rebuilding, and bringing attention to neglected aspects of his surroundings. Through sacrifice, hard work, diligence, support, and prayer, he has witnessed transformative outcomes, solidifying his gratitude for being chosen to serve as City Council Member for District 2.
Daryl's responsive leadership emerged from a call he never anticipated, prompted by a thorough examination of the circumstances affecting his neighborhood. From addressing issues of crime, violence, and mental health to tackling homelessness, joblessness, and fostering educational programs for children, he has felt compelled to answer this call for change.
His diverse work experience is evident in his skill set, leadership prowess, and tangible contributions to District 2. Daryl has successfully established businesses such as Voices of Inspiration, 3N1 BBQ, D's Smokin Pit, and Inspired Youth Recording Studios. His commitment to revitalizing the community is further demonstrated by the transformation of eyesores into prosperous businesses and visually appealing properties.
Residing in the heart of the community, Daryl is acutely aware of the challenges it faces, and he is resolute in his mission to bring about positive change. Recognizing that change requires sacrifice from residents, businesses, law enforcement, nonprofit organizations, and churches, he is unwavering in his belief that it is time for a transformation.
Beyond a mere list of educational achievements, Daryl Collins offers a commitment of four years of dedicated service as Mr. Collins. His intent is to leverage all his gifts, talents, and resources as a leader of District 2, with a focus on rebuilding, reviving, and renewing the community. Together, he envisions a future where the collective efforts of the community lead to lasting positive change.
